Videogame Music Celebration! ...Huh? Whose Footprints Are These?

Today, I thought I'd share some great music to create a sense of mystery in a story. If your characters are poking around the edges of a conspiracy, this music should inspire you.

Portal 2: Overgrowth

This game is so good. So clever, so funny, and very creepy at times. There's plenty of haunting melodies to inspire scenes when your character is snooping around an abandoned building.

And guess what? The game's entire soundtrack is available for free from Valve! Find it here!

Metal Gear Solid: Colosseo

I love this piece. It's very atmospheric and full of mystery. And you have to love ominous chanting ;)

A quick search on Amazon reveals this score is for sale (second hand is your best option).

Uncharted 3 - Mind Games

This is a great piece for inspiring a head-spinning mystery, which is precisely what happens to my head at this part of the game. Without spoiling the story, the visuals go a bit... wonky. If something goes a bit weird in your story, this track will inspire you.

Bioshock Infinite - Elizabeth

I love the music from Bioshock Infinite, and so much of it is perfect for writing mysteries or tense moments. I chose this theme as it captures the ominous secrets held within the game's storyline. This is a beautiful rendition of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite. Taylor Davis has covered a huge range of music, and you can find out more about her here on her Youtube channel. She's super talented.
