What's Up Wednesday

Fancy taking part in this week's What's Up Wednesday? Stop by Jaime and Erin's blogs, and you can!

What I'm Reading

Same as last week. It's been a slooooow month for reading. Not setting myself a reading challenge this year means I'm being pretty laid back, especially when my own work is taking up a lot of my spare time.

What I'm Writing

The edit is going really smoothly. I finished reading over my MS last Thursday and went straight into hard-copy edits. I know the ending needs some work, and there are a few details about my old Victorian house I need to iron out in my own mind, such as how many rooms it has and the like, but so far I haven't come across any major problems, which is very reassuring. Maybe I should give this contemporary setting malarkey another go ;)

What Works For Me

Only having what I need. Having unnecessary excesses of anything bugs me, like I'm wasting it. So in 2015, I'm dedicated to only having what I need. And it's turned into a great money saving method this month.

Turns out there's part of me that has minimalist tendencies. Nobody is more shocked than I am.

What Else I'm Up To

^_^ See you next week!

    1. My plushie came with the KH1.5/2.5 collector's edition, but Square-Enix sell them online. And I think they have a sale on right now!

  10. I love stories with old Victorian houses! My MS-on-sub is set in one and it was so fun to iron out all of the details and make the house come alive. Glad your edits are going smoothly. Best of luck keeping up the momentum!

    1. I've drawn an outline of the house to keep it all straight as I'm writing, but I'm really looking forward to going back and adding the real detail.

  11. I so wish I could adopt a minimalist mentality. Unfortunately, I think I'm probably always going to be surrounded by clutter, especially books. That said, it does start to feel like junk just piles up, doesn't it? So I'm sitting here thinking that if I had a story with a Victorian house, I'd probably have floor plans, photos, you name it lol. But only because I love Victorian houses and would probably go all crazy "researching". Ha! Hope it continues to go well. :D

    1. It really does pile up. I don't mind keeping things I love, but I definitely don't need as much as I have. Clearing it all out will be a lot of fun ^_^

I have a floor plan and photos of loads of abandoned houses around the UK. Very inspiring :D

Researching Victorian Houses sounds like fun. =D

    1. Yeah. I liked doing a reading challenge last year, but this year I decided to be a bit more chilled out about it all.

      It really is!

  13. I couldn't find anything to hold my attention reading wise the first half of this month. It can be so frustrating. Sounds like everything with your manuscript is really coming along. Hope you get some awesome work done this week!

  14. I've had a slow reading month too, but I'm not sweating it. I love doing hard copy edits, there's something so satisfying about scratching things out on paper. Have fun with that!

  15. Yes, I totally agree with you on the having what you need issue. As I've gotten older I've become a minimalist too. Good luck with the edits this week! :)

  18. Yay that your edits are going smoothly!

Also, can I say how much I LOVE your "only having what you need" plan. All that extra everything is so ridiculous. I'm trying to get rid of the excess myself, but the slaying of The Closet of Doom is taking far longer than I anticipated.

Hope you have a great week!

It's the plan. Putting it into action will prove more challenging, but I'm getting there :D
