What's Up Wednesday

Hi everyone :D It's Wednesday again, woo hoo! Join in the bloghop, hosted by the delightful Jaime and Erin ^_^

What I'm Reading

I have read The Raven Boys. I understand now, everyone. I truly do. I sure do love it when a book lives up to all the hype ^_^ I'm just reading James Smythe's The Testament before diving into The Dream Thieves. I'm really looking forward to it :D

What I'm Writing

Editing is finally back on track. Something cracked and fell into place last week. Aaaaah! Feels good to be moving forward again. I even renamed my MC. She didn't feel much like her original incarnation from Resistance, so I had to give her a new identity. Now all I need is a title for the actual book ;)

What Works For Me

Perseverance. If you want to get somewhere in life, you better learn how to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep going.

TO VICTORY, RAAAAAAAAH!!

What Else I'm Up To

Kingdom Hearts. Hahahahahahaaaa, I never seem to fully remember what I'm getting myself back into with this fangirl love ^^; I just finished 1.5 the other day and damn, the end of 358/2 Days gets me every time. The music from all the games is so perfect to edit with, especially when my MC needs to be especially angsty.

Why oh why did I agree to wait until Christmas for 2.5?! The fangirl cannot be contained... I can't wait to play the Final Mix versions of Kingdom Hearts II and Birth By Sleep. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! But AAAARGH SO MUCH TIME!

(You know I'm grateful, Jaffa ;) I CAN HAS HEARTLESS PLUSHIE?! :D)

Hope you all have a great week! I'm off to distract the rabid fangirl I have unleashed...

  1. Nice to hear editing is back on track for you! That's the best feeling when things finally fall into place and you can build up momentum again. Good luck coming up with a title, and I hope editing continues to go smoothly this week! :)

  3. So glad to hear THE RAVEN BOYS is living up to your expectations! :) And yay for the editing being on track! It always takes me forever to come up with titles (I only just thought of one for the manuscript I finished in May :P). Keep persevering! *waves pom poms*

I just started The Dream Thieves. So far, so intriguing ^^

  4. I honestly think I am the only person on the planet who didn't love The Raven Boys. It's odd, because you all are generally my go-to people for finding books I will adore. But chaos in a book always unnerves me. And there is plenty of chaos in The Raven Boys. I'm glad you love it. Wish I did.

    1. It's a bit like me and the Throne of Glass series. I am the only person on Earth who doesn't like it ^^; Oh well! Each to their own.

  5. Glad to hear you enjoyed The Raven Boys - I'm determined to read it before the year is out!

Well done on the editing front. :) Keep up the great work and have a lovely week!

  6. Good luck with your continued edits. Sometimes renaming a character is the best thing to do, if we no longer like a name we chose, or if a name is just "there" instead of feeling distinctive.

  7. Good luck with your edits. Yay for renaming your mc and having it fit. I've been lately having that problem. Glad you enjoyed The Raven Boys too!

Hang in there and you'll get through the edits. Sometimes these things just take time.

  8. I'm happy to hear you liked The Raven Boys. This is reminding me that I need to get to my copy of Blue Lily, Lily Blue sometime in the near future. Trouble is, I'm hooked on all things Christmas right now lol. Awesome about your edits! I know what you mean about having to change up a character's identity due to so many changes. I've been there, too! Hope it continues to go so well and that a title emerges from all of it. Have a great week, Cole! :D

    1. I can't do Christmas until December. I like to save all my festive cheer for that one month ^_^

Thanks, Jaime :D Haha, who knows when the title will emerge. Probably when I'm taking a shower. That usually does the trick.

  9. I'm always curious about how/why people choose character names, and now I'm dying to know what your MC's was, and what it is now! So glad to hear that you loved TRB, though I'm not at all surprised. Are you smitten with Gansey yet, or is that just me? ;-) Best of luck rocking those edits, Cole!

    1. Aaaaaah, time will tell ;)

I like Gansey, but I think Ronan and Adam are the most interesting characters. I wanna know more about Noah. Such a great cast of characters.

  10. Good luck finding your title. I don't have a title for my WIP right now either but I'm hoping it'll just come to me one day.
Maggie Stiefvater can do no wrong, IMO.
    Have a great week!

    1. My WiPs last a good, long time without titles. It's kinda the last thing I feel I need to worry about, you know? ^_^

  11. It is a wonderful thing when a novel lives up to the hype (and almost equally as disappointing when it doesn't). I've felt this way over a number of books I've read over the years. Do I have THE RAVEN BOYS on my TBR? Not sure... have to check. :)

Have a good and productive week, Cole! :)

  12. I haven't gotten around to the 3rd Raven Boys book yet, but I LOVED the first two, so it's very high on my TBR list. I loved all of Maggie Stefvater's books, but this series is in a whole other league and is definitely worth the hype.

    Have a great week!

  18. I'm so glad you jumped on The Raven Boys bandwagon. And the third one (Blue Lily, Lily Blue) is just as good as the first! It might kill me to wait for the fourth book. And yay for perseverance!! Have a great week!

  19. Congrats on getting back on track! Send some of that good juju my way. ;)

And I'm now very jealous that you get to read the Dream Thieves for the first time. I want to be you.

Hope you have a fantastic week!

  20. What's it like to rename your MC this far into editing? I am thinking about doing the same, but I'm wondering how I will adjust...she's been "Sam" for so long! Good luck keeping your editing streak going!

    1. It's a bit weird, cause she still has her old name on my paper copy, but I like her new name and it sets her out as her own character rather than the photocopied version she felt like before. Now I feel like she *belongs* in this new book rather than escaping an old one.

  21. I REALLY need to read The Raven Boys. :)

And man, I get it about renaming characters. I give some of mine placeholder names, then get so used to the placeholder that it's hard to think about them as being named anything else.

    1. I do the same, and sometimes the placeholders stay and other times, they really, really don't. I seem to be renaming half my cast at the moment :P
