What I'm Reading

Still Insanity, but wow did this book take a twist I was not expecting.

What I'm Writing

*does the 50k dance* :D Another 10k, and I'm pretty sure this book will be done!

What Else I'm Up To

The day job... Here's hoping falling asleep on the bus on the way home isn't going to become a habit. I have nine weeks of planning complete though, so at least I'm going to keep the kids busy over summer.  For the those of you new to my blog, I'm not a parent, I'm a nanny ;)

I also had a lovely evening with my friend Gracie on Monday. We decided to hang out and blog together, which is why we guest posted on each other's blogs yesterday. If you're looking for a great beauty and style blog to follow, Style With Gracie is perfect!

What Inspires Me

I've been marathoning 24... This show is so addictive.  I've seen it all before (but please don't spoil me for the current miniseries!), but I'm like "one more... one more..." It's a great exercise in writing amazing plot twists.  But the character I've really engaged with this time is Sherry Palmer.  I hated her the last time I watched this show, but for some reason, her deviousness is really intriguing me this time.

But it's Jack we all love.  He's had some great lines over the years ;)

And if you have watched 24, this is Charlie Brooker's amazing review... from mid-season five. It sums up the show perfectly. Just be aware this is British humour and probably a wee bit NSFW (they're allowed to swear on the BBC ;))

Have a great week!

  3. Congrats on reaching 50K! That's fantastic! I hope the last bit of your wip goes smoothly.

I'm going to check out your friends blog. I LOVE the title of it. :)

And I can relate to getting addicted to a show. I've been marathoning Supernatural for the most of the summer, and even though I've seen it all before, it all seems so new!

I hope you have a great week!

It is a great title, isn't it? ^_^

I need to marathon re-watch SPN one of these days, too.

      Thanks, and you :D

  4. Nice work on reaching 50k! Sounds like you're in the home stretch now! I really hope the kids don't wear you out too much over the summer, but I'm sure you can manage that last 10k or so no problem! :)

  7. Yayyy for 50K! How exciting! You'll have the rest of it polished off in no time :)

I haven't seen 24 yet, but I was the same way with Breaking Bad - "just one more, okay, maybe ONE more, then bedtime ... who needs sleep? One more won't hurt" haha :) Have a great week, Miss Cole!

24 is well worth watching. It is so addictive though...

  8. I've been marathoning a TV show as well, but it has WAY less episodes than 24. Lately I've been staying away from shows that might keep me from productivity for more than 15 hours. :) Unfortunately, I'm figuring out why Twisted didn't get renewed for a second season. The second half of the season is pretty shabby.

    1. It's always such a shame when TV shows just stop bothering. Never mind... THERE'S ALWAYS 24!!! :D

  9. Whoo! Here's hoping for a strong finish to your WiP! Mine, sadly, is nowhere near so close to the end...

And that's so fun you and your friend guest blogged for each other--I'll have to go check out your posts!

  10. Awesome on the 50k!

If I binge-watched 24, I could probably get into it, but I had a hard time when it first aired. I think b/c I had trouble keeping all the twists and turns straight when I had a week between the shows.

I didn't like watching 24 week to week, which is why binge-watching is the only way to get through it.

  11. You know, I've never watched a single episode of 24, but I was just talking about the show with someone last night wondering if I should give it a try. I love binge-watching shows way too much. Good job hitting 50K! You're in the home stretch now. :-)

  12. Congrats on 50k! I must make the confession that I've never seen an episode of 24. It's on my list of shows, though, and I have a feeling it's going to be one that I marathon in a worryingly short amount of time.

I'm pretty familiar with it, so it's not too much of a problem... But coming up with 9 weeks worth of activities wasn't easy.

  15. Congrats on 50k! And I have to say, isn't it great when you hate a character the first time experiencing something, and then change your mind when you revisit the world? It adds a whole layer of awesomeness.

  16. You've planned 9 weeks of summer?! That's impressive. They are lucky to have a nanny like you. I have a soft spot for nannys. The one who took care of my kiddos until I finally quit work in 2012 is now one of my best friends. She was my lifesaver for so many years. Being a great nanny is one of the greatest gifts you can give a family. And being a writer is a great gift too. You are lucky to be both.

  18. When I was pregnant with my second kid, I was binge watching 24 and kept having contractions because of the stress. The doctor told me to cease and desist 24! haha

  19. Congrats on 50K!!! Definitely deserves a happy dance. :)

And I haven't seen 24. *hangs head in shame* I should rectify that because I hear it's really good.

Hope you have an amazing week! (with less falling asleep on the bus) :)

  20. 50k! Woo-hoo!! Congratulations. :) And another big congratulations on planning out the whole summer for the kiddos. That is a major accomplishment, too. Have a great week - bus sleeping and all!

  21. Yay for your writing progress, and for the 24 marathon! It's so fun reading your tweets about it. Ah, brings back memories - mostly of me stressing out and screaming at the TV, haha. One of my friends had the CTU phone ring as his ringtone for the longest time, and it always made my ears perk up when I heard it, haha.

Anyway, hope you get some rest!
