What's Up Wednesday - Shiny New Idea Edition :D

Wow, Wednesday again! Come and join in this fantastic bloghop at Jaime and Erin's blogs :D

What I'm Reading

I'm reading Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch. My friends recommended it to me and I'm really enjoying it! It's just very slow going right now because of...

What I'm Writing

As I mentioned on Monday, I've put Dream!Story aside and given in to the SNI... The word count is currently 28,025 words.  I properly dedicated time to it last Thursday and kind of haven't stopped since.  I've added 27k in six days :D

I'm thinking of it as Violin!Story, even though it doesn't really have anything to do with my favourite instrument ;) The idea came from walking around town with it, though.  I have a big, black violin case so I always feel like I've stepped out a Bond movie and instead of an instrument, I've got a sniper rifle tucked away in there ^^;

IT'S A VIOLIN, I SWEAR!

What Else I'm Up To

Work, right now, but tomorrow I'm heading to London to see Star Trek in Concert at the Royal Albert Hall! SO EXCITED!!!! :D

What Inspires Me

Been playing Romantic Flight from the How to Train Your Dragon OST lately to practice some new positions on my violin... which reminds me yet again I really need to replace my E string before it snaps... It's so thin, it's kind of hard to see in the wrong light.

Have an amazing week!

  1. Wow, 27k in 6 days is amazing! :o Haha, it's good to know I'm not the only one who likes to pretend I'm in the middle of some sort of spy movie while walking down the street. ;)

    Have fun in London! :)

  4. 27k in 6 days!? You're a machine, Miss Cole! Such is the allure of a SNI - hopefully you keep chugging through it to the very end! :D

I can't really relate to the violin case - I'm a cellist and my case is a little more obvious/easily weaponised, haha. Once I was standing with it on a train, and when the guy next to me got creepy, I swung it around to whack him as I left the train. Sorry not sorry, creeper.

Best of luck with the rest of the SNI and the week in general! :D

      Ew, take that creeper out!

  7. 27K!! Holy moly woman, you're a machine!! That is fantastic!

And replace your E string before it's too late. Every time I break a string on my guitar it always decides to smack me in the face, or the eye. Then I have to come up with creative lies as to why I have this really cute welt on my face. :)

Hope you have an amazing week and enjoy the show!

  8. I've seen RIVERS OF LONDON advertised around Doctor Who fandom because, of course, Ben Aaronovitch wrote for Classic Who. He's responsible for the Seventh Doctor story "Remembrance of the Daleks," and I believe he wrote some novels for the Virgin Books line of Who stories in the 90s. I'm intrigued. :)

Wow, I'm impressed with the word count progress on your SNI. I'm still stewing on my SNIs. Perhaps I need to just stop thinking too hard about them and just put fingers to keyboard and see where they go. :)

    Have a great week, Cole!

  12. My violin case is violin shaped, so I feel a little less Bond-like walking around with it. ;-) So cool that you're getting in so many words on this SNI. Good job, Cole! Have an awesome time at Star Trek in Concert. Sounds fantastic!
