What's Up Wednesday

Hello everyone ^_^ It's another What's Up Wednesday with Jaime and Erin. Hope you've all had a great week :D

What I'm Reading

Ashes by Isla J Bick. So far, so good :D Finished Final Fantasy IX, so I think I'll have a Zelda game next...

What I'm Writing

Query letter status: COMPLETE!
Synopsis: 50% complete. It's currently too long.
Still being totally patient though (*cough*)

What Else I'm Up To

....Being asthmatic ^^; Blargh.  It's defeated me this week, but with the amount of steroids I'm now on, I should be able to bench press a tiger in a few days ;)  I did manage to finish all of my Christmas shopping though, hooray! :D

What Inspires Me

You know when you kind of can't put your finger on it? Like, just living is inspiring.  Sitting on a bus, listening to music, watching the world go by... that's kind of inspiring.  Or I just have time to day dream.  Eh, who knows.

Here's some classical daydreaming music, just perfect for this time of year:

Have a lovely week :D

    1. It will, thanks ^_^ I am bombarding myself with steroids. I will not be passing any Olympics drug tests, but I'll be able to breathe normally :P

      Cheers!

  2. Oh wow Christmas shopping done AND query letter done! Sounds like a productive week, despite being sick. I hope the steroids kick in soon!
    Have a great week.

  3. Honestly, I think queries are easier to write than synopses. All the best with that, Cole, and congrats for finishing the query letter! And I'm totally with you on the inspiration thing. Often it's "nothing in particular and everything in general."

    Have a lovely week! :)

    1. Queries are definitely easier. Synopses are a real fine art.

      Thanks, Colin. You too!

  5. Sorry about the asthma, that sucks. :(
Good luck with your synopsis. They are the devil!

  6. Congrats on finishing your query! Synopses are evil - mine took me a week and I'm still not happy with it! It's tough condensing your novel onto one page (and I'm scared I've sacrificed clarity in the process and that my plot makes no sense!). Best of luck with it!

    1. Thanks :) Yeah, I'm trying to keep it all making sense, but everytime I re-read it I realise I've missed stuff out... and it's already too long. Eeeeeeh *headdesk* But it will not defeat me!!!!!

  10. Finishing your Query is a big fat accomplishment! Yay you! I found this post by Sarah Dennard incredibly helpful when doing my synopsis: http://www.publishingcrawl.com/2012/04/17/how-to-write-a-1-page-synopsis/

Hope it helps! And I'm jealous/impressed you are already done with your Christmas shopping. We are no where near finished.

  16. Congrats on finishing your query - I recently had to write a synopsis and it was tough! Best of luck as you finish yours up. Patience is a good thing - it's tough to wait but it's never a good thing to query before you're really, really, really ready. :) Hang in there!

    1. Thanks ^_^ Being super busy is helping me be patient. I'll reevaluate it all come the new year.

  18. I love that gif from Supernatural - and your text below. I get like that far too often. :) Patience is not one of my strengths!

Congrats on the progress with your query and synopsis-writing. I hope it continues to go well. And I hope your asthma improves! Have a great week! :)

    1. Patience has had to become a talent since I first started querying... but yeah, it doesn't come easily.

      Thanks :D

  19. "Bench press a tiger" Hahah! Love it. Sorry about the asthma acting up though. Breathing is kind of essential.

And I agree, Living is inspiring. I think some of the day-to-day small things are sometimes the most miraculous and often go unnoticed by the rest of the world.

Congrats on finishing your query! And I feel your pain on the Synopsis Monster.

    Have a great week! :)

    1. Essential indeed. It's settling back down now, thanks to all the meds :)

Exactly! Life all on its own is perfectly inspiring.

      Cheers, you too!

  20. ASHES!! I loved that book oh so much. It's so intense and creepy. Loved it. The last half was a little odd. Can't say I loved the rest of the series. I sort of gave up on the second. It was ... nothing like the first :/

Congrats on finishing your query! Good luck with your synopsis :)

    1. I'm about halfway through it, so I'm sure I'll have it done next week. Also, boo for the second one sucking. That does happen though, sadly.

      Cheers!
