Happy Global Bond Day!

I love the Bond franchise and I'm SO excited for Skyfall.  Casino Royale is my absolute favourite film of the series, but GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies and Licence to Kill are up there too. On the other hand, I hate the film version of Moonraker but it's my favourite book in the series.  Honestly, if I want people in space, I'll stick with Star Trek.  But the book is full of Cold War nuclear shenanigans and is just awesome.

Anyway!

To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the first Bond film, Dr. No, I thought I'd share this awesome video from Sky Movies in which all the Bonds are blended together into an epic car chase.

So, what's your favourite Bond film?

  1. That's really clever! :)

I'd have to agree with you about Casino Royale (the Daniel Craig version, not the Woody Allen version!), and Goldeneye. Great movies. Best Bond Theme? Live and Let Die, of course (it's also the anniversary of the release of the first Beatles single, "Love Me Do," so we have to give Paul McCartney some love!). And "Nobody Does It Better," from The Spy Who Loved Me. Worst Bond Movie? Diamonds are Forever.

As for the novels, it's been a while since I read them. They're due a re-read. But I did prefer the train scene at the end of FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE in the book to the movie version. I thought there was far more tension and excitement in the novel.

    Happy Bond Day, Cole!! :)

    1. I know, it's one of the best editing jobs I've seen in a while!

They played Live and Let Die on Radio 2 today. I enjoyed singing along. Personally, I love Goldfinger. Classic.

Yeah, I'm not fond of Diamonds Are Forever either, but nothing comes close to my passionate dislike of Moonraker.

The books may be painfully dated in some aspects, but Fleming knew how to create tension.

Happy Bond Day to you too, Colin!

  2. I adore Bond! I love Goldeneye, and I'd also have to go for the old classic "Live & Let Die." Can't wait for Skyfall.
