Today YA Highway want to know where you go for inspiration.

Well, that all depends.  If I want to physically go somewhere, I might take myself off for a walk with my iPod and a notebook.  Sometimes I'll go to a cafe or the library just so I'm somewhere other than my desk.

If I'm really lucky, I'll go abroad ;)

Aaah, Mumbai!

When my feet are firmly on the ground... or when I'm tucked up in bed, I love to listen to my iPod before I go to sleep, just daydreaming and going wherever the music takes me.

This is the theme to my current WiP.  I wonder where it'll take you:

And, between you and me, doing the ironing is a brilliant method of coming up with ideas ;)

  1. Ironing, huh? I don't know if that's enough to convince me to try it...haha ;)

  2. That music is quite chilling! I love it. :D

I spend so much time daydreaming I'm surprised I'm with it in reality. But I do like to spend time thinking about where I'm going in the WiP or mentally plotting something. I always plan in my head first before I start jotting notes down.

Daydreaming is about all the planning I'm capable of ;)

  4. Music is a big one for me, as is reading in the same genre that I'm writing. It's funny how performing mundane activities like ironing, showering, whatever can inspire you when you aren't even looking for it. :)

  5. We have six kids, three of whom are teenagers, and no-one likes ironing. I think we can find PLENTY of inspiration for you here, Cole! Fancy a trip to the States? :D And Bess, we have lots of dishes to do every night. Ever been to NC? :D

    1. LOL! I should've mentioned I HATE ironing but always wind up coming up with stories when I do it :P

I do fancy a trip back Stateside. Fancy paying for my flights? And as for NC, it's my second home ;) It's where my friend Laura lives after all!

  6. Ironing? I HATE ironing lol Well, I hate any house chores, really and I tend to keep in mind how much I hate while executing them. Perhaps if I allow myself to daydream, it'll be better and go by faster? I might give it a try ... though I might burn a shirt or two =P
Music is like my battery to write ;)

    1. Daydreaming is the only way I survive ironing. It's not a chore I enjoy!

  7. Don't even know where my iron is, it's been so long since I used it. But I still own one, so maybe there's hope . . .

And yes, you could come along on any of my journeys! Though I suppose you have a journey to California ahead of you first. This weekend we're going to the place where I took the picture of the mountains with the wildflower path.

  8. ironing...interesting. I haven't ironed in a long time. I'll try that next time I'm in a slump. Hopefully I won't burn my clothes.

  10. I'm going to have to admit that I hate ironing so much I rarely do it - I go out of my way to find clothes that don't need it! But I do find my mind wandering while doing dishes. :)

    1. Unfortunately ironing is something I have to do frequently. The dull reptitiveness of it gives me time to think though!

  13. It'd be lovely to go abroad, but travel isn't in the cards for me right now. Someday!

Also, total agreement on mundane household chores getting ideas flowing. Laundry, vacuuming and such are good for that too.

Lovely haunting melody in that vid!

It's one of my favourite pieces of music :D

I often get awesome ideas (and sentences) in bed. What is it about falling asleep that makes your brain go creative all over everyone?
