Midweek Motivator - Rainy Days

Nicole made an awesome post the other day about how a drought could inspire your writing.  But while the US has suffered a terrible heatwave, the UK has been drowning under unbelievable amounts of rain.  The thunder and rain we had today was astonishing.  It turned the streets into rivers.  How could sudden torrential rain, flash floods and high winds effect your characters' lives?

Chances are it'll rain at least once during London 2012.  It's totally giving us the home team advantage ;) But we can't stay miserable even if our summer is a bit of a washout.  Here's a fantastic remix of Singin' in the Rain:

  1. It may rain every day during the Olympics. Not that it'll bother the rowers.

  2. But it didn't rain on the royal wedding last year, so that's all that matters! ;)

    1. Very true, but it rained for most of the Jubilee. The Queen, however, was unstoppable!

  3. "How could sudden torrential rain, flash floods and high winds effect your characters' lives?"

Good question since one of my WIP's is set in flooded Britain where most of England's underwater. So I guess not much, that lot'd be pretty used to it. ;D

  4. That's why I love being British; even in the torrential rain we're out there with our union jack umbrellas, waving our sodden flags and grinning like idiots. Rain? Pah!

  5. Haha - this is awesome! Maybe if I brainstorm some rain scenes for my characters, it'll bring a few drops overseas to the U.S. ;)
