Plot Bunny Week 2012 Day Three - Stormy Seas

We had some really stormy weather last week.  The wind was so powerful, I had to brace myself or be shoved back.

The thing I love about this is different genres can interpret this photo different ways.  Contemporary? It's a storm.  Fantasy or sci-fi? It's the precursor to a monster attack! Apocalyptic story? This is how the world ends.

How would a storm feature in your story?

  2. The black and white and storminess make me lean toward dystopian for some reason...btu I could also totally see it going Sci-Fi, too :)

  3. I'm leaning towards dystopian as well, or that super-serious, plot-twisting, edge-of-your-seat moment.

  5. Pictures are a great way to start the mind going if you're stuck in a rut with writer's block.

For me, I would have several people thrown onto the beach during the storm and then try and make the best of their lives on this deserted island. Naturally it would be a comedy and they'd find that civilisation was already there and if they'd bothered to look a little further they'd discover they were four miles from home.

  6. With the B&W, the water almost looks like it could be dry cracked ground from a certain angle, too. So cool!
