Greetings from India!

Hi everyone! Hooray for our apartment having the Internet already!

Mumbai is completely different to anything I've ever known. As a writer, being thrown into a culture where you don't speak the language and the food is a million miles from what you're used to, there's no way you can't be inspired.

I really want to get you all a video of the traffic too, because it really has to be seen and heard to be believed.  We're living on the 22nd floor, but in my room the sound of traffic is constant.  It's an endless rumble with beeping horns thrown in.  But I'll save stories of the traffic for another day!

Today I'll share photos from a market we went to in Mumbai! Half of the road was rubble, but it was full of life and colour.

I will also be posting random photos on Twitter, so follow me @MissColeBurke. I also post on Tumblr, and right now there is a photo of the crazy staircase in the apartment building I think you'll like.

  1. Woah... that staircase looks like an M.C. Escher drawing! I'm glad you made it safely to India. How does *Indian* Indian food compare to what you get in England? I love Indian food, so that's my burning question for you to research for me. :)

Looking forward to updates and pictures!! Stay safe. :)

    1. The stairs are crazy and I have no intention of using them unless all the lifts are out.

Indian food is AMAZING. I only started eating curry a couple of years ago, but it is soooooo goooooooooood! I will be venturing into a lot of Indian restaurants from now on! :D

Thanks Colin! I'll post when I can.

  2. I'm surprised you can eat Indian food. I'm from Pakistan and I can't even stand the food. It's way too spicy for me!

    Mumbai looks lovely though!

Hope you're safe and love it!

    1. I know, it's weird! I don't normally eat spicey things, but I'm really enjoying it here.

      Mumbai is pretty cool!

  4. Thanks for the updates! I think we're all living vicariously through you. So you better have a great time!

Meanwhile, I think it's your fault my pandora has an indian music station and I've been watching so much bollywood! (I'll blame you, anyway.)

    1. LOL! So far, it's amazing. It's just soooo different and exciting!

I'm loving the music over here and there's a Bollywood movie coming out this week we all want to see. When I get home to England, I'm definitely going to explore Bollywood films more too!

    1. I'm definitely developing a taste for it, but I'm also trying to memorise the Hindi names so I know what I'm eating :P

    1. The food is soooo good! But I'm balancing it with a lot of plain food to ease my stomach into the whole concept of spice ;)

      The stairs are SO COOL but it's too hot to take them. Today it was 40C which is about 104F ^^;

    2. Good plan! Don't want your stomach rebelling on you! It would be a battle between your taste buds and your stomach. ;)

Whew! Yeah, stick with the elevator!! You still get to see the awesome view down the stairs without having to actually USE them...
