Beta Reader LOVE

Book One has returned! And I just need to share with you the awesomeness of having a beta reader.  The lovely Laura has pointed out issues I was completely blind to. No amount of re-reading would've made me see these problems.  It's hard to see where your ideas lack detail because you automatically fill in the blanks.  Having another opinion is incredibly useful.

But the best part? Being able to talk to someone openly about the plot and the characters.  Finally! Someone knows what I'm going on about! It's so exciting!

So, if you're getting ready to hand your manuscript over, don't worry if you're terrified.  I was SO nervous. Thankfully, getting it back has proved enlightening.

  1. Hahaha awesome GIF.

Isn't it amazing how someone else can see all these problems we never knew were there, and then we read their crit, and we're like OMG I COMPLETELY AGREE???

I'm still freaking out over handing over my first draft. I consider it a blessing that I don't actually ever see my CPs on a regular basis. I'd be so mortified.

  2. Leigh Ann: Thanks for following! And yes, it's completely amazing. But don't worry, handing it over is the best thing you can do.

  4. I have noticed this just from critique group sessions - things I thought were so clear were huge questions for them. Can't wait for and very nervous for beta reading phase.

  6. Beta readers definitely give great advice! My manuscripts have some plot holes that I would never have seen before if they hadn't pointed them out!

  10. Yay! It is so nice when you can finally talk about your book without having to fill in the gaps (like, you can mention a small char's name and they already know who it is). I'm so glad she did a good job! That's such a good feeling. ^_^
    Merry Christmas!
